Fiber Optic Cable Systems

Unicom provides total fiber-to-premises services, including design, installation and test of the fiber optic networks.

We also provide turnkey EF&I (engineer, furnish, & install) solutions to customers who utilize multi-city, inner-city, and intra-city fiber optic networks.

Commonly needed studies we have performed, include the following:

• Route Discovery. This task verifies the existence of buried duct routes, information necessary for planning.

DC Power Systems

Reliable back-up power is an absolute requirement for the telecommunications and IT networks of today. Unicom has extensive experience in providing DC back-up power systems and UPS in military environments. We have engineered and installed many battery and rectifier power plants as part of our microwave system integration contracts. In addition, we have designed and implemented the upgrade of operating DC systems utilizing hot-cutover techniques without incurring a single incidence of dropped service.

HVAC

One component of any facility housing telecommunications or IT equipment is the HVAC system. Continued operation of the equipment is dependent on the proper functioning of the HAVC system to maintain the equipment at a safe operating temperature. It is also necessary to maintain comfortable working environment for personnel.

Unicom has extensive experience providing HVAC systems of various capacities to support the communications terminals we install. Among these is a multi-unit high capacity system supplying cooling and heating to a major military TNOSC

Communications Buildings

Buildings and shelters perform a key part in Unicom’s provision of a turnkey system package. Unicom has deployed various types of telecommunications buildings, some utilizing pre-constructed structures and others assembled on site where adequate roads were nonexistent. For the latter sites, the shelters and all equipment, including the antenna towers, were airlifted to the site and assembled. Unicom installs all utilities and communications equipment on site. These structures may also be disassembled and relocated should the need arise.

We select buildings to meet the site’s specific requirements and your specifications. We consider floor plan, environmental considerations, security aspects and local building regulations. For certain applications, buildings may be pre-wired and equipment installed off-site for later transport and installation.

Towers

Unicom provides complete packages for the design, procurement and erection of communications towers, guyed and self-supporting structures, monopoles and passive reflectors. Unicom will provide towers to your exact specifications. From site selection to soil survey and licensing, Unicom can provide a turnkey package for all support structure requirements.

Our relationships with the major tower suppliers allow us to provide the specific structure that best suits your requirements. We will evaluate the tower site conditions to select the proper support structure. These include but are not limited to the following:

• Soil, wind and climatic conditions at the proposed sites

• Strength and load factors for the towers
